Coe Building and Options Academy Remodels

This project included new entryway additions and a wide reaching 18,000 square foot interior remodel of two Hood River County School District buildings located on the same parcel near downtown Hood River.  The Coe Building is a 1920’s era unreinforced masonry building, while the Options Academy Building is 1949 concrete and wood-framed structure which enclosed an original covered outdoor play area.  District administrative staff was spread across the two buildings.  The impetus for the project was a District-wide lack of formal learning space for the District’s Alternative Education and Online learning programs.  The project converted the Options Academy Building from general office back to its educational function to provide a home for the Alternative Education and Online Learning programs.  Meanwhile the Coe Building was retrofit for the consolidation of administrative staff and certain accessibility upgrades.  The site is a state-recognized historical landmark.
